I love my baby {jumper and pants}

Well, I’m at 30 weeks and we don’t know if the baby is a boy or girl. So today I took a men’s dress shirt that I had bought at the thrift store for about 50 cents and turned it into a jumper for a girl and a pair of pants for a boy. Add a white onesie to each and we have a cute outfit. The jumper may not can be worn until the baby is a year old or so. But the pants can be worn home from the hospital if it is a boy.

I used this awesome tutorial by Blue Cricket Design. The only problem I had was that I don’t have a little girl here to measure the dress on. I used a dress that my great grandmother made for me to make a pattern. Mamaw Butler was an amazing seamstress and made me lots of little “doll” dresses as she called them. I was praying that her creative talent was in my blood while making my first dress.

Here is the dress my grandmother made:

I forgot to take pics of the shirt before I started cutting it up. However, it’s an Old Navy shirt exactly like this blue one that will make the next jumper.

The DIY Show Off

My recycled apron

My aunt went on a mission trip to Brazil several years ago. She brought me back this t-shirt. Unfortunately, after having children, I’m not fitting back into this shirt. So I took this fancy blue-green print to line the picture of the shirt and part of the back. I love that the bottom feels like an old cotton feed sack towel. Perfect for drying hands when in the kitchen.
