Here are some pics of the Easter baskets that I have designed for the children. I started with some denim. I cut it 7 by 22 inches. I had an Easter fabric in my stash so I cut it the same. I also cut 7 inch circles out of both fabrics. With 5 kids, that means 5 of each piece.
I let each child pick out their color for their name. I handstitched their names on each basket so each one is distinguishable from the other. I wanted to use the embroidery machine but my mom’s previous experience with denim had resulted in a broken needle. For not having practiced much recently with free-hand embroidery, I think I did pretty good.
I’ll cut out long strips of each fabric to make a handle for each basket. Then I’ll turn 1/4 inch or so of the top of the basket down and topstitch all the way around the top.
