A happy every morning

My husband says that I’m easily amused. So maybe this won’t thrill you as much as it does me but I just love these towels. I was looking through my craft stash and I just happened to have enough dish towels to make 5 aprons for the children and 7 towels for me. I used my mom’s embroidery machine to put the days of the week. Unfortunately, I could only do big letters of 7 or less so Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday are a little smaller but I still think they look nice.

Part of the reason that I wanted these were sanitary reasons. With children helping in the kitchen, sometimes more than one towel gets drug out and I can’t figure out which is the oldest towel that needs to be washed. With the days of the week, it will help the children learn to read the day words as well as what towel needs to be used that day. I do have extra towels for bigger messes but having a fresh towel each day will be so nice.

I think it will be a welcome sight every morning. A simple thing that can be put out the night before. Even if the house cleaning wasn’t done perfectly, one fresh towel represents a fresh start each morning. Inevitably things will come up to derail your schedule. Kids get sick, old dogs have to go to the vet and other circumstances arise. It reminds me of these verses….

It is of the Lord’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
Lam 3:22-23 (KJV)

So if God’s mercies are new every morning, then each morning should be a fresh start filled with opportunities to make the most of that particular day regardless of the circumstances of the previous day. That’s what my little towels are there to remind me of.
