Crocheted flowers

These are really super easy and I love the crisp look of white flowers. The daisy reminds me of my Shasta daisies. I love the cheerful blooms that will be blooming before we know it.

I am going to use the roses on baby headbands. The daisy will be better on a hat or a pillow. I’m thinking of adding roses to the crochet sampler afghan. They only take 30 minutes or less to crochet so you could make plenty in a hurry.

I love my baby (or niece) {afghan}

I found this crochet sampler at Knit and Crochet Now. They have tons of free patterns. I had pink, purple and white yarn so I made this. I whipped out the first two blocks in no time and then they got tough. Waves and Bobbles, I never figured that one out so I made another checkerboard block in a different color.

As you may already know, our baby’s gender is a mystery. If it’s a girl, this will be her blanket. If not, I’ll hide it away til Christmas and give it to my niece.

I don’t think I’ll make this sampler again because it is very tedious to match up different stitched squares. However, I have learned a lot about crocheting through the process so I’m very glad I took this project on. I’ll definitely be using some of the techniques I learned in future projects.

This week’s projects

This is a picture of all the projects that I completed this week. Pretty cool! The list includes finished binding on a Christmas table runner, a pair of pajama pants, two pencil rolls, five Easter baskets, and two blocks for a crochet sampler afghan. The Christmas table runner was a great project to finish. It’s not only handmade by me but it includes my husband’s grandmother’s vintage buttons. This will be an heirloom for the next generation.

I got the tutorial for these pencil rolls from You Go Girl! I love it. I just embroidered the boys’ initials on my first two pencil rolls. I’ll probably make about 5 or so more before the year is out. The rest of them, I will take them to my mom’s to embroider their full names with the machine.

I also made this dish cloth. It didn’t make it into the first photo because it is in the dirty clothes bucket after being well used this week. I wisely took this photo before I stuck it in the kitchen.

So, goals for this week. I found a pattern for two dinosaurs to make out of felt. Since I’m making an Ice Age 3:Dawn of the Dinosaurs birthday cake, I thought I would make about 16 of these little dinosaurs for party favors. I’ve already traced the pattern for all 16 and I have finished two completely. This will give the children something to play with during and after the party. And if all of the eight young children in the family come to the party, they will be able to get one of each dinosaur.

Party favors will be top priority. I also have the lamb bib to finish. I have ten more blocks on the crochet sampler afghan. Not sure if that will be done by the end of the week so I’ll probably give myself til Valentine’s day to complete both bibs and the afghan. Instead of starting a new project, if I need a change of pace, I’ll make more yo-yo’s so I’ll have plenty ready when I make it to Hobby Lobby for some metal barrettes.

Stay tuned for tomorrow when I’ll include some information on special times for autistic children.

I love my baby {booties}

We’re not sure of the sex but since I’m carrying high this time and I carried low with the boys, I’m thinking Mary Janes were a better bet to start with. I found a pattern for mock crocs that I’ll do in maroon that will work for boy or girl Mississippi State Bulldog fan.

I love my James {hat}

James is so proud of his hat. I like to have never got the last few rows crocheted. He was convinced that it was done and he wanted it now. Now I should have most of Davy’s hat done by tonight.

I love my baby {hat}

I am really enjoying crocheting. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed it. I put this newborn-3 months hat together last night and this morning. I’m gonna use the rest of the yarn to make one sized 6-9 months.

Our baby will be a late spring baby but the evenings might still be cool. Also sometimes you have to protect the baby from air-conditioning. James is a little jealous so I’m gonna make him and Davy hats before I start the next baby project.
